Made simply from ground chickpeas, chickpea flour is a source of plant protein and fibre, making it an ingredient that brings more than just great taste to the table. At Chickpowa, we want to make eating pulses easy, exciting and genuinely delicious, no compromise, no boring substitutes, just really good food that happens to start with chickpeas.

What is farinata?

Farinata is a traditional Italian speciality made from chickpea flour, water, extra virgin olive oil and salt. Originally from Liguria and also loved across parts of northern Italy, it’s golden on the outside, soft inside and naturally delicious. Think somewhere between a flatbread and a savoury pancake but very much its own thing!

Are Chickpowa products gluten-free and vegan?

Yes! Chickpowa products are made with naturally gluten-free and plant-based ingredients. However, our products are prepared in a kitchen where gluten and other allergens may also be handled, so we cannot guarantee that they are free from traces of allergens due to the possibility of cross-contamination. If you have an allergy, intolerance or coeliac disease, please check the allergen information on the product packaging before consuming.

Where are your products manufactured?

Chickpowa products are currently made in small batches in our registered kitchen in London, where we prepare and pack them with care. As Chickpowa grows, we’re working towards scaling up production while keeping the same focus on quality, simple ingredients and great taste.

How does pre-ordering work?

We make our products fresh to order in small batches, so a little planning goes a long way! Place your order by 5pm on Thursday and we’ll freshly prepare your Chickpowa goodies for delivery by Monday. Orders placed after the Thursday 5pm cut-off will be prepared as part of our next small batch for delivery the following week. Making in small batches and to order helps us keep our products fresh, maintain quality and minimise food waste, better for your Chickpowa and better for the planet.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Changed your mind or spotted a mistake? Get in touch with us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to help. Because we make our products fresh to order in small batches, we may not be able to change or cancel your order once we’ve started preparing it.

Can I return my order?

Accepted Answer

As our products are food items and some are freshly made to order, we’re unable to accept returns simply because you’ve changed your mind. However, if your order arrives damaged, incorrect, or there’s an issue with the quality of your products, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. Include your order number, a description of the issue and, where possible, a photo so we can look into it and make things right.

How should I store my order once it arrives?

Our farinata should be refrigerated as soon as you receive it. Our crackers should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Always check the packaging for the storage instructions and use-by or best-before date specific to your product.

For now, we deliver our Chickpowa goodies across London. We’re still small, but we’ve got big plans! How long does delivery take?

We make our products fresh to order in small batches. Place your order by 5pm on Thursday and we’ll prepare your Chickpowa goodies for delivery by Monday. Orders placed after the Thursday cut-off will be included in our next batch and delivered the following week. Once your order is on its way, we’ll send you an update so you know when to expect your Chickpowa delivery.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery costs are calculated at checkout based on your order and delivery location, so you’ll always see the cost before completing your purchase.

What happens if I’m not home when my order arrives?

As some of our products are fresh and need to be kept refrigerated, we recommend making sure someone is available to receive your delivery. If you know you won’t be home, please let us know as soon as possible and we will try to find a solution.

We believe good food starts with good ingredients. That’s why we keep our recipes simple and choose high-quality ingredients, letting the chickpea take centre stage. Chickpeas are also a great crop from a sustainability perspective. As part of the pulse family, they can fix nitrogen from the atmosphere, helping reduce their reliance on nitrogen fertilisers and making them a valuable part of more sustainable farming systems. From the chickpea flour at the heart of our products to the extra virgin olive oil and seasonings we use, we choose our ingredients with quality, flavour and responsible sourcing in mind. For us, it’s about making food that tastes great while making thoughtful choices about what goes into it.

Is your packaging sustainable?

We’ve carefully chosen our packaging to help reduce unnecessary waste while keeping your Chickpowa goodies fresh and protected. Our farinata film and cracker pouches are compostable, while our farinata boxes and cracker labels are made from recyclable paper. Once you’ve enjoyed your Chickpowa: Paper boxes & labels: pop them in your paper recycling. Compostable film & pouches: if you have access to suitable composting, they can go in your compost. If not, simply dispose of them in your general waste. We’re always looking for ways to make our packaging even better as we grow because good food shouldn’t come with unnecessary waste.

For our London deliveries, we use bicycle delivery wherever possible helping us get your Chickpowa goodies to you while reducing the impact of local deliveries. As we expand our delivery area, we’ll continue looking for delivery options that align with our commitment to building Chickpowa more thoughtfully.
